Sorry for the recent silence. When we pulled into China on the 8th we found that the Chinese government blocks access to social websites like Blogger or Facebook. I tried poking around for a VPN to get out, but they are pretty good at blocking search engine searches that look like attempts to circumvent their "protection". If anyone is planning a trip to China soon, make sure you get your VPN set up in advance... and word on the street is have more than one available.
Anyway... our friend John helped us set up the blog so that we can submit stuff by email. I don't think we'll be able to put in pictures or anything, but you can always just check our Flickr photostream. The powers that be have granted intermittent access there.
In the next few days we'll fill in the gaps of what we've been doing. For now we're off to the Summer Palace.
By the way... could someone please kick me or Jenn an email to let me know this blog gets published. Thanks - Jim

And you thought being blocked at work was bad! Should've warned you about China's internet access before you left.
