Loving Laos

Loving Laos

We've only been in Laos for one day, and we're already in love with the country. The people and weather are warm, life is slow, and road traffic consists of roosters and children playing in the street. We went on a long bike ride around the rice paddies and temples of Laung Namtha.

For Thanksgiving, we had dinner with travelers from Holland, Israel and Denver. It didn't compare to spending time with family back home, but it was great to eat with new friends.

We're getting ready to head out to the protected Nam Ha Forrest for a 3 day guided trecking and kayaking tour. You can only access this protected area with a guide and we'll be staying with local villagers in a lodge. Looking forward to the experience and meeting locals.

Hope all is well back home. We'll be out of touch until Monday morning.

  1. Looks so beautiful! I've never even been there. By the way the head chef at my restaurant is Laos - and I generally can't understand a word she says! Though the language is similar. Sending you guys lots of love! - May

  2. Hi
I am really enjoying your blog. i have tried to comment before but i guess I do not know how. I will try one more time. You will remember this trip for the rest of your life .. Such pleasant memories it will bring. I know I am so glad I traveled as much as I did --really enjoy remembering them. Wanted to end up with a safari in Africa riding an elephant but never got to too late now
